With tastes of Gingerbread, Vanilla, Molasses and Spice,
this cake will be a sure winner with your favorite icing on your next Buffet Table!
Great with Whipped Cream or even Ice Cream, this vintage recipe uses Molasses,
which is a byproduct from the Sugar Manufacturing process.
Molasses isn’t something you would put on your Pancakes, but gives a lovely dark sugar taste to baked goods.
This cake uses Ground Cloves, Ginger and Cinnamon.
The taste is like a light, bright Gingerbread with the texture of a moist spice cake.
Jolene’s Molasses Cake
1 Cup Butter
1 1/2 Cup Sugar
3 Eggs
3/4 Cup Molasses
3 3/4 Cups Sifted Flour
3/4 tsp Baking Soda
3/4 TSP Salt
2 TSP Cinnamon
1 TSP Cloves
3/4 Cup Milk
1 TSP Ginger
Cream butter and Sugar, Add Eggs and Beat until Fluffy. Add Molasses and Blend well.
Sift Flour, Baking Soda, Salt, Cinnamon, Cloves and Ginger Together
(Which is totally not going to happen, so dump the spices in, then add the flour with the Milk a little at a time) .
Add to mixture alternatively with milk . Turn into buttered 9×13 pan, Bake at 350 for 350 minutes, or toothpick comes out clean
